This DLC7 or DLC8 Cuisinart replacement part, the sleeve assembly, is the oval insert that fits down into the oval cylinder (looks like an oval chute) on the cover. It has two plastic feet that click into the cover to make the machine turn on. This must be engaged for your machine to work. This part has a gray tint, although the older ones were amber. The amber versions of these parts have been long discontinued.
The Cuisinart DLC-8 & DLC-7 tops are sold in three separate pieces so you only have to buy one if yours breaks. These include: For DLC7:

** *If you are trying to replace this part on a machine that has NO WHITE CLIP on the side of cover (943025), you must buy all three parts (943025, 943027, 943028) as these new parts are not interchangeable with the old. ***
This part is interchangeable between the DLC-8 and the DLC-7 models because they both have the same size chute. But you must have had the DLC-7 or DLC-8 cover with the WHITE CLIP on the side where it attached to the work bowl. If you have the old amber cover that does not have a WHITE CLIP on the side of the cover, you must buy all three parts mentioned above.
If your DLC-7 or DLC-8 Cuisinart food processor machine does not turn on, make sure which part is broken, the cover or the sleeve before you order!
The white clip can fall out or the prongs on the expanded sleeve can break off.
